  • Jaggery powder - 2tsp
  • Dry Roasted peanut powder - 1tbsp
  • Coconut oil - as needed

  1. Keep all the ingredients ready.
  2. Take the ragi flour in a bowl
  3. Now mix jaggery powder thoroughly . Check for the sweet.if needed you can add more.
  4. Mix the peanut powder to it.
  5. Now pour some water and make into a dough like chapathi dough consistency. You can add some coconut oil too.
Just for  easy rolling of dough I prepared small amount and showed here.
  6. Place the prepared dough in freezer by closing it with a lid. Else u can cover it using plastic or aluminium foil sheet.
  7. After 10 mins, remove it from the fridge.
  8. Roll it like a chapathi and cut in small shapes.

  9. In the meantime place a idli pot on stove top covered with sand upto half mark, close the lid and keep for about 5-7 mins on high flame.
  10. Once you cut into shapes take  the pieces and you can make a design using fork like this or you can leave it as such.
  11. Place it on the idli plate like this.
  12. After 7 minutes simmer  the stove and  remove lid carefully. check if you can feel heat above the sand.
  13. Now place the arranged idli plate on the pot and close the lid.
  14. Put the flame on  mid level for 5 minutes and full sim for another 5 minutes.
  15. Now switch off stove and carefully touch the pieces it should be soft but not brittle.
  16. Take the idli plate out of pot and let it get cooled.
  17. After it's good enough to touch take and break a piece, if it is baked well it will be broken well without much effort.  If not bake again for 5 minutes in slow flame.
  18. Choco chotos is ready,๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹.
  19. Now you can have it as such or like Kellogg's you can take it as a morning cereal.
To show you I took small amount of milk and put 3 or 4 pieces.

  20. This bites can be stored at room temperature and it won't get spoiled for at least a month. Since it doesn't contain any ingredient that will turn bad soon like milk or coconut.
  21. While grinding roasted  peanut don't grind too much. Use pulse mode and just 2-3 seconds is enough. If you grind too much it may end up as a paste.
  22. The prescribed measures yield 20 pieces of bite sized.
  23. Don't worry on seeing this much steps. Whole process will take approximately 45 mins. That too while baking you can do another work.  Worth try.
Note: pls don't eat with the feel of eating ordinary maida biscuits.  It will be bit hard and different taste.
Enjoy the healthy snack.. will come back as soon as possible.. Byee..

Pearl millet flakes granola bar aka MG bar

Let's start with a sweet recipe for the kutty tummies. As the blog name suggests it's yummy,๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹ and you won't get worried if your kiddo asked for more.
With no further delay let's go for the recipe.
I named it MG bar short form of millet granola bar, s s myself named , u can name it as u wish because the ingredients can be customised as you wish.
For those who want to know what is granola ,it's nothing but our very own kadalamittai(ground nut chikki) but with many different ingredients and we need not cook this for a long time as needed for  chikki.
But if we say it as milletmittai (woww sounds good๐Ÿ˜œ)  our kids will be ๐Ÿ˜ , mittai a. Hence the name MG bar,๐Ÿ˜Œ.
Now the recipe

MG BAR
Ingredients:
  • Pearl millet poha(kambu aval)- 1tbsp
  • Dates - 4 or 5 pieces
  • Crushed almond- 4 or 5 pieces
  • Flaxseed ( aali vithai) - 2tsp
  • Jaggery or brown sugar- 1tbsp
  • Ghee- 1tbsp
Method:
  1. Take all your ingredients in a plate before starting.
  2. Chop the deseeded dates into small pieces.
  3. Dry roast the pearl millet and flaxseed separately. (Regarding this seeds we will see in detail later) , it will taste like seasame seeds (ellu). Roasting pearl millet is purely optional, if u feel any raw smell with the poha do that step.
  4. Heat a tawa and add ghee.
  5. Add the dates and cook till it get mashed, it will take 2-3 minutes. Now add jaggery powder too.
  6. Once the mixture gets thickened add the remaining ingredients one by one. Mix them well after 2 minutes switch off stove.
  7. Transfer the contents to a ghee greased plate.
  8. Let it cool for some 5 minutes. Slice into your desired shape., Or to do justification for the name MG bar let's cut it in bar shape. TADDAA ITS READY
  9. To make it more attractive to kids you can pack like this
  10. U can use rice poha or any other poha, cashew , walnut, any dry fruits. Mostly granola bars contain oats. But we got more nutritious grains than that. So replaced it.
  11. Hope all like this one. Will come back with another recipe. Take care everyone.
